The Insurance Amendment Act
(Assented to July 5, 1994)
HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:
The Insurance Act is amended by this Act.
Subsection 76(2) is amended by adding ", trust company, credit union or caisse populaire"
(a) at the end of the section heading; and
(b) at the end of the subsection.
Subsection 385(9) is amended
(a) by striking out "or" at the end of clauses (a), (c) and (d);
(b) by adding "or" at the end of clause (e) and by adding the following after clause (e):
(f) a licensed general insurance agent in the adjustment of a first party claim, where
(i) the value of the claim is $2,500. or less,
(ii) the claim arises under a policy that was sold by the agent or by an agency of which the agent is a member, and
(iii) the agent or agency has received authorization to act as an adjuster from the insurer that issued the policy.
This Act comes into force on the day it receives royal assent.
