It has been in effect since November 14, 1990, when this Act came into force.
The Synod of the Diocese of Brandon Incorporation Act, R.S.M. 1990, c. 190

WHEREAS the territory now comprising the Diocese of Brandon and situate wholly within the Province of Manitoba was separated from the Diocese of Rupert's Land by resolution of the Ecclesiastical Province of Rupert's Land held at Winnipeg on August 27, 1913, and set apart as a separate and independent Diocese to be known as the Diocese of Brandon;
AND WHEREAS the Synod of the Diocese of Brandon (being a Diocese of the said Ecclesiastical Province of Rupert's Land), by petition, prayed that the Synod of the Diocese of Brandon should be incorporated;
AND WHEREAS its prayer was granted and resulted in the enactment of An Act to Incorporate the Synod of the Diocese of Brandon, dated March 5, 1925;
AND WHEREAS the Minister of Justice has caused the Act to be prepared in English and French for re-enactment in accordance with a judgment dated June 13, 1985 and an order dated November 4, 1985 of the Supreme Court of Canada;
ATTENDU QUE le territoire, entièrement situé dans la province du Manitoba, qui comprend maintenant le Diocèse de Brandon a été séparé du Diocèse de la terre de Rupert par une résolution de la province écclésiastique de la terre de Rupert prise à Winnipeg le 27 août 1913, et rendu distinct en tant que diocèse séparé et indépendant dénommé le Diocèse de Brandon.
ATTENDU QUE le Synode du Diocèse de Brandon (étant un diocèse de la province écclésiastique de la province de la terre de Rupert) a, par voie de pétition, demandé la constitution en corporation du Synode du Diocèse de Brandon.
ATTENDU QUE leur demande a été reçue et qu'il en a résulté l'adoption de la loi intitulée « An Act to Incorporate the Synod of the Diocese of Brandon », sanctionnée le 5 mars 1925;
ATTENDU QUE le ministre de la Justice a fait rédiger la présente loi en français et en anglais en vue de sa réadoption en conformité avec un jugement et une ordonnance de la Cour suprême du Canada datés respectivement du 13 juin 1985 et du 4 novembre 1985;
THEREFORE HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:

Continuation
1 The Synod of the Diocese of Brandon is continued as a corporation and is hereinafter referred to as "the corporation".
Prorogation
1 L'organisme dénommé « The Synod of the Diocese of Brandon » (ci-après appelé la « Corporation ») est prorogé à titre de corporation.
Of what corporation consists
2 The corporation shall consist of the Bishop of the said Diocese and his successors from time to time appointed in such manner as is or shall be provided by the Provincial Synod of the Ecclesiastical Province of Rupert's Land and of such other persons as are or may become members thereof according to the constitution of the said Diocesan Synod as the same was adopted at the first Synod of the Diocese of Brandon held on the fourth day of June A.D. 1924, being the Constitution of the Diocese of Rupert's Land as in force on that date or as the said constitution may from time to time be altered by the said Provincial Synod or by the Diocesan Synod acting with and within the powers vested in it by the Provincial Synod aforesaid.

Powers of synod
3 All powers, rights and privileges which by any statute have been conferred upon the Synod of the Diocese of Rupert's Land shall be held and enjoyed by the Synod of the Diocese of Brandon from the time of the consecration of the first Bishop of Brandon except those which are not applicable to conditions as they exist in the Diocese of Brandon.

Devises of lands
4 The Synod of the Diocese of Brandon may take and receive any devises and bequests of lands, or any interest therein, or other property, for any purpose connected with the Church of England in the said Diocese, or in connection with any of the objects or work carried on by the said Synod to the same extent as the Diocese of Rupert's Land is capable of taking and receiving same.

Temporalities Act to apply
5 All the provisions of The Anglican Church of Canada Temporalty Act shall as regards all lands and hereditaments within the boundaries of the Diocese of Brandon apply to the said Diocese of Brandon and the provisions of the said Act shall be held and enjoyed by the Synod of the Diocese of Brandon for all purposes by the said Act required and the Synod of the Diocese of Brandon is hereby authorized to assume all the powers in the said Act specified which were formerly enjoyed and possessed by the Diocese of Rupert's Land in so far as it relates to land and property within the boundaries of the Diocese of Brandon.

Corporate powers
6 The corporation shall have power in law respectively to purchase, take, hold, give, receive, enjoy, possess and retain without license in Mortmain all messuages, lands and tenements and personal property which have been or hereafter shall be paid, given, appropriated, devised or bequeathed to it or purchased by it in any manner or way whatsoever to, for or in favor of the ecclesiastical and educational uses and purposes within the boundaries of the Diocese of Brandon in the Province of Manitoba of the Church of England including thereby the uses and purposes of any parish, mission, institution, college, school or hospital connected with the Church of England within the said Diocese of Brandon.

Constitution
7 The constitution, canons, rules and regulations of the corporation shall be those in force on the coming into force of this Act until they are repealed or amended or others are substituted for them by the corporation.

Public Act
8 This Act shall be deemed a Public Act.
