The Workplace Safety and Health Amendment Act (Inappropriate or Unsafe Footwear)

This Act amends The Workplace Safety and Health Act to prohibit an employer from requiring a worker to wear footwear that is not appropriate to the protection required for the worker's work or that does not allow the worker to safely perform their work. |

HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:
The Workplace Safety and Health Act is amended by this Act.
The following is added after section 45.1:
INAPPROPRIATE OR UNSAFE FOOTWEAR
Inappropriate or unsafe footwear
An employer must not require a worker to wear footwear that
(a) is not of a design, construction and material appropriate to the protection required for the worker's work; or
(b) does not allow the worker to safely perform their work.
This Act comes into force on the day it receives royal assent.
