THE UNIVERSITIES ESTABLISHMENT REPEAL AND CONSEQUENTIAL AMENDMENTS ACT

HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:

C.C.S.M. c. U40 repealed

The Universities Establishment Act, R.S.M. 1987, c. U40, is repealed.

Consequential amendment, C.C.S.M. c. C150.1

The definition "university" in section 1 of The Colleges Act is repealed and the following is substituted:

"university" means The University of Manitoba, The University of Winnipeg and Brandon University; (« université »)

Clause 122(2)(e) of The Consumer Protection Act is repealed and the following is substituted:

(e) by The University of Manitoba, The University of Winnipeg or Brandon University;

Section 1 of The Council on Post-Secondary Education Act is amended, in the definition "university", by striking out "and" after clause (b) and by repealing clause (c) and substituting the following:

(c) The University of Winnipeg,

(d)  Brandon University. (« université »)

The definition "educational institution" in section 1 of The Manitoba Foundation Act is repealed and the following is substituted:

"educational institution" means

(a) The University of Manitoba, The University of Winnipeg or Brandon University,

(b) a college formally affiliated with a university mentioned in clause (a), or

(c) a college in Manitoba established under The Colleges Act,

if that institution is funded primarily by the government of Manitoba and designated in the regulations; (« établissement scolaire »)

Clause 6(6)(c) of The Highways and Transportation Department Act is repealed and the following is substituted:

(c) The University of Manitoba, The University of Winnipeg or Brandon University; or

The definition "public body" in section 1 of The Manitoba Investment Pool Authority Act is amended by repealing clause (d) and substituting the following:

(d) The University of Manitoba, The University of Winnipeg or Brandon University,

The Municipal Act is amended by this section.

The definition "institutional lands" in section 334 is amended

(a) in subclause (a)(ii), by striking out "a university" and substituting "The University of Manitoba, The University of Winnipeg or Brandon University,"; and

(b) in clause (c), by striking out "a university"and substituting "The University of Manitoba, The University of Winnipeg or Brandon University".

Clause 335(2)(a) is amended by striking out "a university" and substituting "The University of Manitoba, The University of Winnipeg or Brandon University,".

Subsection 63(1) of The University of Manitoba Act is amended by striking out "a university established under The Universities Establishment Act" and substituting "The University of Winnipeg and Brandon University".
