THE LIQUOR, GAMING AND CANNABIS CONTROL AMENDMENT ACT (SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY FEE REPEALED)

HIS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:

C.C.S.M. c. L153 amended

1   The Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Control Act is amended by this Act.

Repeal

2   Subsections 101.3(3) and (4) and clause 157(i.1) are repealed.

Transition — existing agreements

3   A person who operates a cannabis store is not required to pay to the government a social responsibility fee despite

(a) subsection 101.3(3) of The Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Control Act, as that subsection read immediately before the coming into force of section 2; or

(b) the terms of an agreement the person entered into under subsection 101.3(1) or (2) of The Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Control Act.

Retroactive application

4   The following provisions apply in respect of the payment of the social responsibility fee on or after January 1, 2023:

(a) section 2;

(b) section 3.

Coming into force

5   This Act comes into force on a day to be fixed by proclamation.
