THE HEALTH SERVICES INSURANCE AMENDMENT ACT

HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:
The Health Services Insurance Act is amended by this Act.
The following is added after section 32:
In this section, "health care premium" means an amount charged for a resident to become or remain an insured person.
No person may be asked or required to pay a health care premium, whether on that person's own account or on behalf of another person.
Section 42 is amended by striking out everything after "$5,000.".
This Act comes into force on the day it receives royal assent.
Explanatory Note This Act amends The Health Services Insurance Act to ensure that no premium or fee is required for a Manitoba resident to be eligible for health care. |
