THE COAT OF ARMS, EMBLEMS AND THE MANITOBA TARTAN AMENDMENT ACT

WHEREAS the world's largest fossilized specimen of the prehistoric marine reptile known as Tylosaurus pembinensis was discovered near Morden in 1974;
AND WHEREAS this fossilized specimen, which has been nicknamed "Bruce the mosasaur", is permanently displayed at the Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre in Morden;
THEREFORE HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:
The Coat of Arms, Emblems and the Manitoba Tartan Act is amended by this Act.
The following is added after subsection 5(5):
The mosasaur known as Tylosaurus pembinensis is hereby designated as the marine reptile fossil emblem of Manitoba.
This Act comes into force on the day it receives royal assent.
Explanatory Note This Bill amends The Coat of Arms, Emblems and the Manitoba Tartan Act to designate the mosasaur known as Tylosaurus pembinensis as the marine reptile fossil emblem of Manitoba. |
