The Court of Queen's Bench Small Claims Practices Amendment Act

(Assented to December 7, 2006)

HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:

C.C.S.M. c. C285 amended

1           The Court of Queen's Bench Small Claims Practices Act is amended by this Act.

2           Clause 3(1)(a) is amended

(a) by striking out "$7,500." and substituting "$10,000."; and

(b) by striking out "$1,500." and substituting "$2,000.".

3           Section 4 is amended in the section heading and in the section by striking out "$7,500." and substituting "$10,000.".

4           Subsection 5(1) is amended in the section heading and in the subsection by striking out "$7,500." and substituting "$10,000.".

Consequential amendment, C.C.S.M. c. P8

5           Section 3 of The Parental Responsibility Act is amended by striking out "$7,500." and substituting "$10,000.".

Transitional

6           This Act does not apply to a claim filed under The Court of Queen's Bench Small Claims Practices Act before the coming into force of this Act.

Coming into force

7            This Act comes into force on a day to be fixed by proclamation.
