The Blind and Deaf Persons' Maintenance and Education Act

HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:

Definition.

In this Act,

"minister" means the Minister of Education.

Maintenance and education.

The Government of Manitoba may from time to time expend such moneys of the province as it deems expedient for the maintenance and education of blind persons and deaf persons under the age of 18 years residing in the province.

Extra-provincial institutions.

Subject to the approval of the minister, blind persons and deaf persons under the age of 18 years residing in the province may be sent to, and maintained in, institutions outside of Manitoba.

Clothing may be furnished.

The minister may furnish such clothing as he deems expedient for blind persons and deaf persons placed in an institution as provided in this Act, and unable to provide their own clothing.

Appointment of staff.

Such officers and employees as may be necessary to supervise the transportation of blind persons and deaf persons to and from institutions outside Manitoba may be appointed as provided in The Civil Service Act.
