This note is a reader's aid and is not part of the law.
The list of protected characteristics under The Human Rights Code is expanded to cover gender expression. The wording for "gender identity" in the French version is amended to reflect current terminology.

HIS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:

C.C.S.M. c. H175 amended
1 The Human Rights Code is amended by this Act.

1 La présente loi modifie le Code des droits de la personne.
2 Subsection 9(2) is amended
(a) in clause (g) of the French version, by striking out "sexuelle" and substituting "de genre"; and
(b) by adding the following after clause (g):
(g.1) gender expression;
2 Le paragraphe 9(2) est modifié :
a) dans l'alinéa g) de la version française, par substitution, à « sexuelle », de « de genre »;
b) par adjonction, après l'alinéa g), de ce qui suit :
g.1) l'expression de genre;
Coming into force
3 This Act comes into force on the day it receives royal assent.
Entrée en vigueur
3 La présente loi entre en vigueur le jour de sa sanction.
