The Minimum Wage Adjustment Act, 2022 (Employment Standards Code Amended)

Explanatory Note

This Bill amends The Employment Standards Code to set the minimum wage at $14.15, effective April 1, 2023.

HIS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:

C.C.S.M. c. E110 amended

1   The Employment Standards Code is amended by this Act.

2   The following is added after subsection 6(2):

One-time adjustment of minimum wage

6(3)   Despite clause (2)(a), the minimum wage is deemed to be $14.15 as of April 1, 2023.

Application

6(4)   For certainty, the minimum wage established under subsection (3) is subject to the ongoing adjustment under section 7.

Coming into force

3   This Act comes into force on the day it receives royal assent.
