The Workers Compensation Amendment Act

Explanatory Note This note is a reader's aid and is not part of the law. The Workers Compensation Act lists specific illnesses and injuries presumed to be caused by firefighting, unless the contrary is proven. This Act expands the list to include primary site thyroid, pancreatic, ovarian, cervical and penile cancers. |

HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:
The Workers Compensation Act is amended by this Act.
Subsection 4(5.2) is amended by striking out "or" at the end of clause (m) and adding the following after clause (n):
(o) a primary site thyroid cancer;
(p) a primary site pancreatic cancer;
(q) a primary site ovarian cancer;
(r) a primary site cervical cancer; or
(s) a primary site penile cancer.
This Act comes into force on a day to be fixed by proclamation.
