The Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Control Amendment Act (Cider and Cooler Sales at Beer Vendors)

Explanatory Note

This note is a reader's aid and is not part of the law.

This Act amends The Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Control Act. It enables all retail beer vendors to also sell cider and coolers.

HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:

The Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Control Act is amended by this Act.

Subsection 1(1) is amended by adding the following definitions:

"cider" means an alcoholic beverage produced by the fermentation of fruit juice. (« cidre »)

"cooler" means an alcoholic beverage produced by combining a wine, beer or spirit base with

(a) fruit juice, vegetable juice or a flavouring preparation; and

(b) water or mineral water. (« panaché »)

Subsection 38(2) is replaced with the following:

Authorized sales

38(2)

A retail beer vendor licence authorizes the licensee to sell beer, cider and coolers on a retail basis from the premises specified in the licence.

Coming into force

This Act comes into force on the day it receives royal assent.
