The Historic Highway No. 1 Act

WHEREAS Provincial Trunk Highway No. 44 was part of the first national highway system in Canada before the present Trans-Canada Highway route was completed;

AND WHEREAS Provincial Trunk Highway No. 44 was a key link in the movement of people and goods across the vast territory of Canada;

AND WHEREAS Provincial Trunk Highway No. 44 played an integral role in the economic development of Manitoba and in the population growth of Western Canada;

AND WHEREAS transportation connections promote our national and provincial identity;

NOW THEREFORE HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:

Historic Highway No. 1 designated

Provincial Trunk Highway No. 44 is hereby designated the "Historic Highway No. 1".

This Act may be referred to as chapter H66 of the Continuing Consolidation of the Statutes of Manitoba.

Coming into force

This Act comes into force on a day to be fixed by proclamation.
