The Justice for Victims of Crime Amendment Act

(Assented to July 27, 1993)

HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:

The Justice for Victims of Crime Act is amended by this Act.

Section 6 is amended by adding the following definition in alphabetical order:

"services", in relation to victims, includes services provided by the government; (« services »)

Subsection 13(1) is amended by striking out "and shall be collected in the same manner as a fine" and substituting "and for the purpose of the enforcement of payment is deemed to be a fine".

Section 15 is amended

(a) by renumbering it as subsection 15(1); and

(b) by repealing clause (a) and substituting the following:

(a) promotion, delivery and administration of victims services and related costs;

The following is added as subsection 15(2):

No application required

An expenditure may be authorized from the fund whether or not an application or submission for funding has been made under subsection 8(2).

Section 16 is repealed.

Coming into force

This Act comes into force on the day it receives royal assent.
