The Shoal Lake Community Centre Act
(Assented to March 15, 1990)
WHEREAS the Minister of Justice has caused this Act to be prepared in English and French for re-enactment in accordance with a judgment dated June 13, 1985 and an order dated November 4, 1985 of the Supreme Court of Canada;
THEREFORE, HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:
For the purposes of The Municipal Act, the park to which reference is made in By–law No. 405 of 1964 of The Village of Shoal Lake, and in By–law No. 750 of 1964 of The Rural Municipality of Shoal Lake is deemed to be a community centre, and The Village of Shoal Lake and The Rural Municipality of Shoal Lake may each pass by–laws for imposing an annual rate which, notwithstanding The Municipal Act, may exceed one mill, over the rateable property in the whole of each of the municipalities, to erect, maintain and regulate the community centre.
The Village of Shoal Lake and The Rural Municipality of Shoal Lake may borrow sums not exceeding, in the combined aggregate for both municipalities, the sum of $25,000. to pay for construction of, and improvements to, the park referred to in section 1, and may enact by–laws authorizing the issue and sale of debentures for that purpose, and may issue and sell the debentures pursuant to the by–laws.
