An Act to amend The Manitoba Municipal Secretary-Treasurers Association Act

ASSOCIATION ACT

(Assented to September 10, 1986)

WHEREAS The Manitoba Municipal Secretary-Treasurers' Association was incorporated by An Act to incorporate The Manitoba Municipal Secretary- Treasurers' Association, being chapter 89 of the Statutes of Manitoba, 1955, now repealed, and was continued as a body politic and corporate under the name "The Manitoba Municipal Secretary- Treasurers Association" by The Manitoba Municipal Secretary-Treasurers Association Act, chapter 31 of the Statutes of Manitoba, 1969 (1st session) (hereinafter called "the Act");

AND WHEREAS The Manitoba Municipal Secretary-Treasurers Association has by its petition prayed that it be enacted as hereinafter set forth, and it is expedient to grant the prayer of the petition;

THEREFORE HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:

Title am.

The title of the Act is struck out and the following title is substituted therefor: "The Manitoba Municipal Administrators Association Inc. Act".

Sec. 1 am.

Section 1 of the Act is amended by striking out the words "The Manitoba Municipal Secretary-Treasurers Association" in the 4th and 5th lines thereof and substituting therefor the words "The Manitoba Municipal Administrators Association Inc. ".

Subsec. 10(2) am.

Subsection 10(2) of the Act is amended by adding thereto, immediately after clause (b) thereof, the following clauses:

(b.l) provide for the establishment of a course in municipal administration and public finance, to be known as the "Certified Manitoba Municipal Administrators Course";

(b.2) provide for a certificate, to be awarded to any person who successfully completes the course established under clause (b. l), certifying that the person is entitled to be known as and to use the title of a "Certified Manitoba Municipal Administrator";

The Act is amended by adding thereto, immediately after section 10 thereof, the following section:

Unauthorized use of title prohibited.

10.1

No person shall, without first having been awarded a certificate under clause 10(2)(b.2), use the title "Certified Manitoba Municipal Administrator" or any other title, words or letters in conjunction with the name of the person in any way representing the person to be a Certified Manitoba Municipal Administrator.

Commencement of Act.

This Act comes into force on the day it receives the royal assent.
