THE MOOSE HIDE CAMPAIGN DAY ACT (COMMEMORATION OF DAYS, WEEKS AND MONTHS ACT AMENDED)

HIS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:
C.C.S.M. c. C150.5 amended
1 The Commemoration of Days, Weeks and Months Act is amended by this Act.
2 The following is added as a Schedule:
SCHEDULE
MOOSE HIDE CAMPAIGN DAY
WHEREAS the Moose Hide Campaign is an Indigenous-led grassroots movement that emphasizes the role all men and boys play in preventing violence against women, children and gender-diverse people;
AND WHEREAS the Moose Hide Campaign empowers men and boys from all walks of life to actively challenge harmful gender norms and model healthier, more respectful relationships in families, workplaces and communities;
AND WHEREAS the Moose Hide Campaign creates spaces for healing, dialogue and education in communities across Canada;
AND WHEREAS wearing the moose hide pin symbolizes a personal pledge to honour, respect and protect women and children and speak out against gender-based violence;
AND WHEREAS the Moose Hide Campaign is building a safer, more inclusive future for women, children and gender-diverse people;
THEREFORE the following is proclaimed throughout Manitoba:
Moose Hide Campaign Day
1 In each year, the third Thursday in May is to be known as Moose Hide Campaign Day.
Coming into force
3 This Act comes into force on the day it receives royal assent.

Explanatory Note The Commemoration of Days, Weeks and Months Act is amended to proclaim the third Thursday of May of each year as Moose Hide Campaign Day. |
