THE CHRISTIAN HERITAGE MONTH ACT (COMMEMORATION OF DAYS, WEEKS AND MONTHS ACT AMENDED)

HIS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:
C.C.S.M. c. C150.5 amended
1 The Commemoration of Days, Weeks and Months Act is amended by this Act.
2 The following is added as a Schedule:
SCHEDULE
CHRISTIAN HERITAGE MONTH
WHEREAS more than half of Manitobans identify as Christian;
AND WHEREAS Manitoba's diverse, multicultural Christians have contributed and continue to contribute significantly to Manitoba's spiritual and cultural heritage;
AND WHEREAS Christians in Manitoba have made and continue to make valuable contributions to the social and humanitarian fabric of our society and have played a significant role in shaping our communities through their support of charities, schools, hospitals and other places that provide services to those in need;
AND WHEREAS December is an important month in the Christian faith with the observance of Advent, a time of preparation and reflection, and the celebration of Christmas, a holiday rooted in family, unity, generosity and love;
THEREFORE the following is proclaimed throughout Manitoba:
Christian Heritage Month
1 In each year, the month of December is to be known as Christian Heritage Month.
Coming into force
3 This Act comes into force on the day it receives royal assent.
