THE LIQUOR, GAMING AND CANNABIS CONTROL AMENDMENT ACT

HIS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:
C.C.S.M. c. L153 amended
1 The Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Control Act is amended by this Act.
2 Subsection 24(1) is amended by striking out "The executive director" and substituting "Subject to section 24.0.1, the executive director".
3 The following is added after section 24:
No liquor service licence for certain premises
24.0.1(1) The Lieutenant Governor in Council may, by regulation, prohibit the issuance of liquor service licences for one or more types or classes of premises in a specified area.
Exception
24.0.1(2) A regulation made under subsection (1) does not apply to a liquor service licence that was issued before the coming into force of the regulation.
Coming into force
4 This Act comes into force on the day it receives royal assent.

Explanatory Note The Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Control Act is amended to prohibit the issuance of new liquor service licences for classes of premises established by regulation in a specified area. Existing liquor service licences are not affected by this amendment. |
