HIS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:

C.C.S.M. c. H190 amended

1 The Manitoba Hydro Act is amended by this Act.

2 Subsection 15.3(1) is amended by adding "or a subsidiary" after "the corporation".

Coming into force

3 This Act comes into force on the day it receives royal assent.

Explanatory Note

This Bill amends The Manitoba Hydro Act. Currently, the government may introduce a bill to privatize Manitoba Hydro only after a referendum has been held in which the majority of voters have approved the privatization. The amendment clarifies that the referendum requirement also applies to the privatization of any subsidiary of Manitoba Hydro.
