THE TRANSPORTATION INFRASTRUCTURE AMENDMENT ACT

HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:
The following is added after section 4:
The minister must establish standards for snow removal on all departmental roads, including standards for frequency, priority and timing of snow removal, and the application of sand and chemicals to manage snow and ice.
The minister must develop and implement standards established under this section in a manner that ensures public safety.
At a minimum, the minister must develop and implement standards that comply with the order of priority roads set out in Column 1 of the Schedule and the timing requirements set out opposite in Column 2 of the Schedule.
The Schedule to this Act is added as the Schedule to The Transportation Infrastructure Act.
This Act comes into force on the day it receives royal assent.

|Roadway type — priority roads
(as defined in the regional highway classification maps published by the minister)
|Major routes||Snow plowed from travel lanes within four hours after the end of a storm.
Sand or chemicals, or both, applied within four hours after the end of a storm.
|Regional highway network (surfaced)||Snow plowed from travel lanes within eight hours after plowing on regional highway network (surfaced) begins.
Sand or chemicals, or both, applied as weather conditions permit and completed within eight hours after application commences.
|Gravel, access and service roads||Snow plowed from roads within 48 hours after the end of a storm, subject to availability of personnel and equipment.
Sand or chemicals, or both, applied when application has been completed on major routes and regional highway network (surfaced).
