THE TRANSPORTATION INFRASTRUCTURE AMENDMENT ACT

HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:
The Transportation Infrastructure Act is amended by this Act.
The following is added after section 4:
Minister must establish snow removal standards
The minister must establish standards for snow removal on all departmental roads, including standards for frequency, priority and timing of snow removal, and the application of sand and chemicals to manage snow and ice.
Standards to ensure public safety
The minister must develop and implement standards established under this section in a manner that ensures public safety.
At a minimum, the minister must develop and implement standards that comply with the order of priority roads set out in Column 1 of the Schedule and the timing requirements set out opposite in Column 2 of the Schedule.
Minister must publish standards
The minister must publish on a government website the standards established under this section.
The Schedule to this Act is added as the Schedule to The Transportation Infrastructure Act.
This Act comes into force on the day it receives royal assent.
