THE REGIONAL HEALTH AUTHORITIES AMENDMENT ACT

HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:

The Regional Health Authorities Act is amended by this Act.

The following is added after subsection 38(2):

Tabling annual reports in Assembly

38(3)

The minister must table a copy of each annual report referred to in subsection (1) in the Assembly on any of the first 15 days on which the Assembly is sitting after the minister receives it.

38(4)

An annual report tabled in the Assembly stands permanently referred to the Standing Committee on Social and Economic Development unless the Assembly otherwise orders. The Standing Committee must consider the report within 120 days after it is tabled.

Coming into force

This Act comes into force on the day it receives royal assent and applies to annual reports that are tabled in the Assembly after that day.

Explanatory Note

This Bill amends The Regional Health Authorities Act to require annual reports of health authorities to be tabled in the Assembly and referred to the Standing Committee on Social and Economic Development. The Standing Committee must consider each report within 120 days.
