THE RECOGNITION OF NATIONAL DAY FOR TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION ACT (EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS CODE AND INTERPRETATION ACT AMENDED)

HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:

C.C.S.M. c. E110 amended

The definition "general holiday" in subsection 21(1) of The Employment Standards Code is amended by adding the following after clause (e):

(e.1) National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (September 30);

C.C.S.M. c. I80 amended

Subsection 23(1) of The Interpretation Act is amended by adding the following after item 6:

6.1

September 30, known as "National Day for Truth and Reconciliation"

Coming into force

This Act comes into force on the day it receives royal assent.

Explanatory Note

This Bill recognizes National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, September 30, as a statutory holiday in Manitoba for the purposes of The Employment Standards Code and The Interpretation Act.
