THE CELEBRATING MANITOBA 150 ACT

WHEREAS 2020 is the 150th anniversary of the establishment of Manitoba by the Manitoba Act (Canada);

AND WHEREAS this anniversary is a time to celebrate and honour the accomplishments of Manitoba and its people, and to reflect on the history and the future of the province;

THEREFORE HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:

Year to Celebrate Manitoba 150

The year 2020 is to be known throughout Manitoba as the Year to Celebrate Manitoba 150.

Government advertising, etc. not restricted

The restrictions on advertising and publishing information that apply to government departments and agencies under Part 13 of The Election Financing Act do not apply to advertising or information that is solely about events, celebrations or other activities related to the Year to Celebrate Manitoba 150.

Coming into force

This Act comes into force on the day it receives royal assent.

Explanatory Note

This Act establishes 2020 as the Year to Celebrate Manitoba 150. The restrictions on government advertising in The Election Financing Act do not apply to celebrating Manitoba 150.
