THE CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES AMENDMENT ACT

HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:

The Child and Family Services Act is amended by this Act.

The following is added after subsection 17(3):

Parent or guardian in care not determinative

17(4)

A child must not be found to be in need of protection only by reason of their parent or guardian being in or having previously been in the care of an agency, a treatment centre or the director.

Coming into force

This Act comes into force on the day it receives royal assent.

Explanatory Note

This Bill amends The Child and Family Services Act. No child is found to be in need of protection solely because the child's parent or guardian is or was in the care of an agency under the Act.
