THE MANITOBA HYDRO AMENDMENT ACT (DISCLOSURE OF GOVERNMENT DIRECTIVES)

HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:

The Manitoba Hydro Act is amended by this Act.

The following is added after section 12:

Public notice of directives

12.1(1)

The minister must ensure that public notice of a written or verbal directive from the minister or Executive Council to the board or the officers of Manitoba Hydro is published in The Manitoba Gazette within 30 days after the directive is made.

Notice requirements

12.1(2)

The public notice of a directive must include the following:

(a) a detailed description of the directive;

(b) the rationale for the directive;

(c) the expected costs and benefits that will result from the implementation of the directive.

Coming into force

This Act comes into force on the day it receives royal assent.
