The Environment Act is amended by this Act.

The following is added after section 30:

Definitions

30.1(1)

The following definitions apply in this section.

"methamphetamine" means N,a-dimethylbenzeneethanamine. (« méthamphétamine »)

"producing", in relation to methamphetamine, means to obtain methamphetamine by any method or process, including manufacturing, synthesizing or using any other means of altering the chemical or physical properties of a substance. (« production »)

Prohibition re methamphetamine

30.1(2)

No person shall release or permit the release of a pollutant into the environment in the course of producing or attempting to produce methamphetamine.

Coming into force

This Act comes into force on the day it receives royal assent.

Explanatory Note

This Bill makes it an offence to release a pollutant into the environment in the course of producing methamphetamine.
