THE HIGHWAY TRAFFIC AMENDMENT ACT

HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:

The Highway Traffic Act is amended by this Act.

2(1)

The following is added after clause 242.3(2)(g):

(g.1) section 249.2 (criminal negligence causing death while street racing);

(g.2) section 249.3 (criminal negligence causing bodily harm while street racing);

(g.3) subsection 249.4(3) (dangerous operation causing bodily harm while street racing);

(g.4) subsection 249.4(4) (dangerous operation causing death while street racing);

The following is added after clause 242.3(3)(b):

(b.1) subsection 249.4(1) (dangerous operation while street racing);

Subsection 264(1) is amended

(a) in the definition "Category A offence", by adding the following after subclause (a)(i):

(i.1) subsection 249.4(1) (dangerous operation while street racing),

(b) in the definition "Category B offence", by adding the following after subclause (a)(vi):

(vi.1) section 249.2 (criminal negligence causing death while street racing),

(vi.2) section 249.3 (criminal negligence causing bodily harm while street racing),

(vi.3) subsection 249.4(3) (dangerous operation causing bodily harm while street racing),

(vi.4) subsection 249.4(4) (dangerous operation causing death while street racing),

This Act comes into force on the day it receives royal assent.
