THE STATUTORY HOLIDAYS ACT (VARIOUS ACTS AMENDED)

HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:

C.C.S.M. c. E110 amended

The definition "general holiday" in subsection 21(1) of The Employment Standards Code is amended by adding the following after clause (a):

(a.1) the third Monday in February;

C.C.S.M. c. I80 amended

Subsection 23(1) of The Interpretation Act is amended by adding the following after item 2:

2.1 The third Monday in February, the name of which may be determined by a proclamation of the Lieutenant Governor

C.C.S.M. c. R120 amended

The definition "holiday" in section 1 of The Retail Businesses Holiday Closing Act is amended by adding "the third Monday in February," after "New Year's Day,".

Coming into force

This Act comes into force on the day it receives royal assent.

Explanatory Note

This Bill establishes the third Monday in February as a statutory holiday.  For this purpose, amendments are made to The Employment Standards Code, The Interpretation Act and The Retail Businesses Holiday Closing Act.
