The Portage La Prairie Charter Act

WHEREAS the Minister of Justice has caused this Act to be prepared in English and French for re-enactment in accordance with a judgment dated June 13, 1985 and an order dated November 4, 1985 of the Supreme Court of Canada;
THEREFORE HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:
1 This Act may be cited as "The Portage la Prairie Charter".
2 In this Act,
"city" means the City of Portage la Prairie; (« ville »)
"corporation" means the municipal corporation of the City of Portage la Prairie; (« corporation »)
"council" means the municipal council of the City of Portage la Prairie; (« conseil »)
"mayor" and "alderman" mean the mayor and aldermen of the City of Portage la Prairie. (« maire » et « conseillers municipaux »)
3 The City of Portage la Prairie, as constituted on the coming into force of this Act, is continued.
4 The powers of the corporation shall be exercised by the council.
5 The council of the city shall consist of the mayor, who shall be the head of the council, and six aldermen.
