This Bill amends The Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Control Act to repeal the requirement for a cannabis store operator to pay to the government a social responsibility fee.

HIS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:

1 The Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Control Act is amended by this Act.

Repeal
2 Subsections 101.3(3) and (4) and clause 157(i.1) are repealed.
Abrogation
2 Les paragraphes 101.3(3) et (4) ainsi que l'alinéa 157i.1) sont abrogés.
Transition — existing agreements
3 A person who operates a cannabis store is not required to pay to the government a social responsibility fee despite
(a) subsection 101.3(3) of The Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Control Act, as that subsection read immediately before the coming into force of section 2; or
(b) the terms of an agreement the person entered into under subsection 101.3(1) or (2) of The Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Control Act.
Disposition transitoire — accords existants
3 Les personnes qui exploitent un magasin de cannabis ne sont pas tenues de verser au gouvernement une taxe de responsabilité sociale malgré :
a) le paragraphe 101.3(3) de la Loi sur la réglementation des alcools, des jeux et du cannabis, tel qu'il était libellé immédiatement avant l'entrée en vigueur de l'article 2;
b) les modalités de l'accord qu'elles ont conclu en vertu des paragraphes 101.3(1) ou (2) de la Loi sur la réglementation des alcools, des jeux et du cannabis.
Retroactive application
4 The following provisions apply in respect of the payment of the social responsibility fee on or after January 1, 2022:
(a) section 2;
(b) section 3.
Application rétroactive
4 Les dispositions qui suivent s'appliquent relativement au versement de la taxe de responsabilité sociale à partir du 1er janvier 2022 :
a) l'article 2;
b) l'article 3.
Coming into force
5 This Act comes into force on a day to be fixed by proclamation.
