An Act to amend An Act to Incorporate United Health Services Corporation

(Assented to March 8, 1990)

WHEREAS United Health Services Corporation was continued as a body politic and corporate by An Act to Incorporate United Health Services Corporation, being chapter 88 of the Statutes of Manitoba, 1974, as amended by An Act to Amend An Act to Incorporate United Health Services Corporation, being chapter 58 of the Statutes of Manitoba, 1979;

AND WHEREAS United Health Services Corporation has, by its petition, prayed that it be enacted as hereinafter set forth, and it is expedient to grant the prayer of the petition;

THEREFORE HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:

Section 7 repealed and substituted

Section 7 of An Act to Incorporate United Health Services Corporation, being chapter 88 of the Statutes of Manitoba, 1974, as amended by An Act to Amend An Act to Incorporate United Health Services Corporation, being chapter 58 of the Statutes of Manitoba, 1979, is repealed and the following section is substituted:

Board of directors

7(1)

The affairs of the corporation shall be managed by a board of directors consisting of not less than 10 or more than 20 members appointed annually by a nominating committee established by the board.

Appointment of directors

7(2)

Subject to subsection (3), the appointments under subsection (1) shall be made in accordance with terms of reference prescribed by the board and approved by the members.

Executive Council to designate one director

7(3)

One of the directors shall be a person, other than a member of the Legislative Assembly, designated by the Executive Council of the Government of Manitoba.

Present directors continue in office

7(4)

The directors in office on the date this section comes into force shall continue in office until their successors are appointed.

Remuneration of directors

7(5)

The directors, the executive committee members and the chairperson of the board may be paid such remuneration as may be determined by the board from time to time, and the remuneration shall be subject to an annual cost of living adjustment established in accordance with the policies set by the board from time to time.

Coming into force

This Act comes into force on the day it receives the royal assent.
