THE ELECTIONS AMENDMENT ACT

HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:
1 The Elections Act is amended by this Act.
2 Subsection 22(2) is repealed.
3 Section 23 is replaced with the following:
23 The chief electoral officer must be appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council
(a) on the recommendation of the Standing Committee on Legislative Affairs; and
(b) following a resolution of the Assembly carried by a vote of more than two-thirds of the members voting.
4 This Act comes into force on the day it receives royal assent.
