THE ESSENTIAL SERVICES AMENDMENT ACT

HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows:
The Essential Services Act is amended by this Act.
Section 1 is amended
(a) in the definition "employer" by adding the following after clause (g):
(h) a person or entity owning or operating a homeless shelter;
(b) by adding the following definition in alphabetical order:
"homeless shelter" means a shelter for the lodging of persons who do not otherwise have a residence, and includes, but is not limited to,
(a) the Salvation Army shelter, located at 180 Henry Avenue, Winnipeg, and
(b) the Main Street Project, located at 71 and 75 Martha Street, Winnipeg; (« refuge pour les sans-abri »)
This Act comes into force on the day it receives royal assent.
Explanatory Note This Bill amends The Essential Services Act by adding "homeless shelter" to the list of workplaces to which the Act applies. |
