(c.2) is a residence operated by or in connection with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority for undergraduate students in the health professions who are taking training at the Health Sciences Centre, to a maximum exemption of 0.81 hectare;

Saving provision for Children's Hospital

4           Every reference to The Children's Hospital of Winnipeg in a will or testamentary disposition is conclusively deemed to be a reference to The Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba Inc.

Coming into force

5           This Act is retroactive and is deemed to have come into force on April 2, 2000.

Explanatory Note

On April 1, 2000 the corporation known as the Health Sciences Centre was dissolved and its operations were transferred to the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority.

This Bill repeals the Act that incorporated the Health Sciences Centre.  It also preserves the Centre's exemption from property tax by an amendment to The Municipal Assessment Act and carries forward a provision from the repealed Act dealing with bequests to the Children's Hospital.
