CROP RESIDUE BURNING ADVISORY (MR 77/93)

 

 

Until July 31, 2012, daytime burning of crop residues and non-crop herbage is permitted in all municipalities under the following conditions:

 

  • Burning must occur between sunrise and sunset of the same day. Nighttime burning is illegal.
  • Burning must be supervised at all times.
  • Adequate fireguards must be in place to prevent the spread of the fire.
  • Smoke from the fire must not reduce visibility on a highway or pose an unreasonable hazard to public health.
  • Burning in the “Burning Permit Areas” requires a permit issued by Manitoba Conservation. Permits issued by other local authorities may be required.
