Manitoba Sustainable Agriculture Practices Program (MSAPP)

PURPOSE
Sustainable agriculture is a provincial priority and this program is designed to:

  • help meet the provincial climate change goals and move to a low-carbon, greener economy
  • provide environmental, social and economic benefits, including improved soil and water quality
  • help farmers adopt best management practices and meet greenhouse gas reduction targets
  • help the province benefit from improved water quality, reduced production costs and increased rural economic development
  • help farms and rural communities adapt to climate changes (ex: extreme weather, droughts and pests)

Combined with the Environmental Farm Action Program, this program will improve producers’ stewardship of the land, water, air and biodiversity resources and local and global confidence in the safety and environmental sustainability of Manitoba-grown food products.

WHO QUALIFIES

Applicants must own, rent, lease, manage or control agricultural land used to produce agricultural products. Applicants must have completed an Environmental Farm Plan, or an Equivalent Agri-Environmental Plan, and have a valid Statement of Completion.
