Environmental Farm Action Program
PURPOSE This program supports agricultural producers in reducing
identified environmental risks and improving the management of Manitoba’s
agricultural land. The goal is to reduce identified risks and improve management
of water resources, air quality, soil productivity and wildlife habitats.
WHO QUALIFIES
Eligible applicants include individuals, partnerships or operations incorporated
under federal and/or provincial laws. Applicants must own, rent, lease,
manage or control agricultural land used to produce agricultural products.
Applicants must have completed an
Environmental Farm Plan, or an Equivalent Agri-Environmental Plan, and have
received a valid Statement of Completion.
Note: Retroactive submissions for projects that were completed before this
program began on September 1, 2009, will not be accepted.
ELIGIBLE COSTS
The Environmental Farm Action Program (EFAP) is funded by Agriculture and
Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) through the environment suite of the Growing Forward
program and is delivered by Manitoba Agriculture Food and Rural Initiatives and
administered by the Growing Forward Administration (GFA).
All funding under this program is subject to the Federal Government’s annual
renewal of its commitment to financially support this program.
Project funding for this program is cost-shared with the applicants. The
maximum funding for a project will:
- be based on a pre-determined cost-sharing formula
- not exceed the maximum contribution amount allowable for a particular
best management practice listed in the Beneficial Management Practice

Note: When projects are completed, applicants must provide the Growing
Forward Administration with statements and invoices. These must include details
of eligible costs, broken down by in-kind contributions that have been approved
by GFA, its representative or its agent. Payment will be issued upon receipt of
eligible invoices and/or proof of purchase. The Goods and Services Tax (GST) is
not an eligible cost.
