Agri-Advisor Program

PURPOSE
This program supports farm businesses and agri-product processing businesses in improving business skills, adopting beneficial management practices and meeting business goals using:

  • business plan advisory services
  • business analysis and reviews
  • marketing plan development
  • product development planning
  • succession planning and reviews
  • feasibility studies for new start-ups
WHO QUALIFIES
Applicants must intend to or must already do business as a farm operation or an agri-product processor in Manitoba. Specific details on eligibility vary, and applicants must contact their local Manitoba Agriculture Food and Rural Initiatives (MAFRI) representative to arrange a discussion about their eligibility for the program.

A MAFRI representatives will arrange a consultation with a MAFRI business development specialist to discuss eligibility, and if the applicant qualifies, the specialist will help the applicant create a project plan/report.

ELIGIBLE COSTS
Applicants who have created a report in consultation with a business development specialist will seek an appropriate, qualified business consultant and will be reimbersed part of the cost of the consultations. Applicants are required to contribute $200 to participate in the program.

Eligible costs include consultation fees of up to $500 per day (for up to five days) to a maximum of $2,300 per applicant.
