Industry Innovation - Farm Innovation and Diversification Centres Program

PURPOSE
This program provides funds to the four established agrifood diversification centres to support diversified farm income, expanded value added processing and improved environmental sustainability.

WHO QUALIFIES
Westman Agriculture Diversification Organization, Prairies East Sustainable Agriculture Initiative, Parkland Crop Diversification Foundation and Manitoba Horticulture Productivity Enhancement Centre are the only eligible applicants for this program.

Priority will be given to projects that address:

  • new sources of farm income
  • growth in the value-added sector
  • lower primary production costs
  • improved environmental stewardship
ELIGIBLE COSTS
Manitoba Horticulture Productivity Enhancement Centre projects are eligible for a total annual maximum of $100,000. Projects at the other centres are eligible for a total annual maximum of $150,000.

Funds are available for, but not limited to:

  • goods, shipping and transportation
  • labour, consulting, repairs and testing outlined in the application
  • consumable supplies
  • promotion, extension and communication
  • rent or lease of facilities, equipment and machinery
  • service agreements
