Advancing Agri-Innovation Program

PURPOSE
This program provides funds for innovative initiatives in sectors that have strategic importance to the economies of Manitoba and Canada.

This program is designed to create partnerships among value chain participants to build the province’s capacity for innovation.

WHO QUALIFIES
Eligible applicants include:

  • farmers
  • agri-processors
  • research institutions
  • entrepreneurs and businesses
  • First Nations
  • commodity and industry associations
  • co-operatives
  • others with projects that support the agriculture sector through innovation

Applicants must be incorporated under the laws of Canada or any province/territory and/or be eligible to pay taxes in Canada.

Preference will be given to projects that have:

  • a logical, sequenced approach to innovation
  • strong industry leadership and resource commitment
  • partnerships/agreements with capable individuals and agencies
  • a well-developed work plan

ELIGIBLE COSTS
Funds are available for, but are not limited to:
  • labour and materials
  • rental and lease of equipment
  • other operating expenses including
    • travel and accommodation
    • workshop and meeting expenses
    • service agreements
    • administration
    • legal services directly related to the project
Capital projects that improve the province’s physical climate for innovation are eligible for this program.
